REmessenger keeps track of your email bounces – this is when you send an email, but for some reason it is undeliverable and instead it is ‘bounced’ back, usually with a message indicating the reason.

There are two types of bounces:

 1. Soft

A soft bounce is where the problem is most likely temporary, for example, the recipient’s email box is full.

2. Hard

A hard bounce means that the email can never be delivered using the available details. Usually this is because the email address is invalid in some way, perhaps the recipient does not have a mail box at the mail server, or the mail server itself does not exist.

If you have bounces, REmessenger will indicate these on your Contact Lists. The red ‘Stop’ symbol indicates we have recorded a hard bounce, and we will not send any more messages to that email address. A Contact that has experienced soft bounces is highlighted with a yellow triangle. You can hover your mouse over the symbols for further details.

If one of your Contacts returns a hard bounce we will not send any more email to that email address. REmessenger can be penalised by the email reputation and anti-spam monitoring companies if we continue to send emails to a non-existent email address. We work hard to keep our reputation with these companies as strong as possible, because this increases the reliability of delivery of your emails. Some large email and ISP companies, such as AOL, Comcast and Microsoft will penalize email senders if their reputation scores are not good – or even refuse to accept messages for their users.

For soft bounces we’ll continue to try and deliver your emails to them, however, if a high number of soft bounces occur for an email address we may discontinue sending, usually once we reach seven or more bounces over a period of time.

You’ve always been able to click on the title of a story to open the story’s own web page, but this is a little clumsy and time consuming.

Now if you hover your mouse pointer over the title of a story a window will popup displaying the full story. When you move your mouse away, the window will close.

We have enabled this feature for all REmessenger users, but if it’s all a bit too much for you, there is an checkbox at the bottom of the news story list called ‘Live preview of News Stories’. Just uncheck this and the previews will turn off.

REmessenger now has live preview of news stories.

REmessenger is pleased to announce the launch of three new fun Easter newsletter templates! The new templates are available to all standard REmessenger subscribers for free.

When you create a new News Bulletin or Newsletter, click the Change button on the Design Selector at the top left. Then choose one of these entertainment templates (click the thumbnail to see a large version).

Each Newsletter template provides space for three News articles plus your personal message. The News Bulletin templates, as usual, allow for one News article and your message. Your contact details will be displayed at the bottom, including your photo, if you have uploaded one to your account.

1. Select the Real Estate News Bulletin template option.

2. On the right-hand side of the screen, you’ll see the blank layout of your newsletter, with fields to be populated with your selected news stories. If you have added a logo and profile picture to your Account Settings, you’ll see them at the top of your newsletter.

3. There is a space for you to include your introduction. Type your text into this box.

4. On the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll find your access to the news articles that are currently available.

5. Select a category of story from the drop-down menu, e.g. Agent Advice, Brokerage, Consumer.

6. Drag a story from the list to your news alert.

7. Click ‘Next’ (bottom right-hand corner)

8. On this screen, you’ll be able to preview your newsletter, to see that it looks the way you’d like it to. You are also able to preview the email that will be sent.

If you’d like to make changes, click the ‘Back’ button (bottom left-hand corner)

9. Give the newsletter a meaningful title in the ‘Message Title’ field. This will appear on your sent message.

10. Schedule your message by setting the date and time in the ‘Schedule Message’ field. Make note of the region that your account is set for. If the date and time are incorrect, follow the ‘Update your Account’ link to set your region up correctly.

11. Click ‘Next’ (bottom right-hand corner)

12. At this stage, you can select a target for the message. You can select one or more of your Contact Lists, plus your Twitter and Facebook pages. If location information is available for your Contacts, they will be shown on the map at the right.

13. Click ‘Next’

14. Again, at this stage you can preview the newsletter and its email, for final checks.

15. Once you’re happy with the message and recipients, click the ‘Publish Now’ button (bottom left-hand corner). Your message will be sent at the date/time you selected.

Importing from Excel is done from the ‘Import Contacts’ page, where you can select an existing list (one that you set up earlier) or create a new contacts list.

You can import records containing up to 70 fields, so you could import names and addresses from most sources, including files exported from Outlook, Gmail and other contact or email management software.

You will need the import file ready and saved on your computer. It should look something like this:

The first row should contain field names – as you’ll see in a moment, it will make allocating the imported fields to REmessenger’s Contact fields easier.

REmessenger will only import 500 records at one time, so if you wish to import more, try and break the list up into separate import files.

Start by selecting an existing Contact List to import to, or you can Create a New List by typing the new list name into the box. Open the Excel file (if not already open), and copy all the records, switch back to REmessenger and paste the records into the box, then click the Import button.

The records should begin to upload automatically and then REmessenger will process the contacts, which might take a couple of seconds if the import file is large.

You then need to allocate the imported data columns to REmessenger Contact records, using the drop down lists. For example, make sure that the fields containing the peoples’ first name is allocated to the First Name REmessenger field. This is why having field names as the first down in the file can be useful, if you have many fields in the import file it can make identifying the key fields easier.

After you click next you will see a list of all of the records ready for import. If any have an invalid email address, or are duplicates of Contacts you already have in REmessenger these will be highlighted and skipped. You can then also manually choose some records not to be imported. When ready click the Next button.

You will be given confirmation the Contacts have been imported.

We have just released an enhancement for our REmessenger Facebook integration that allows you to select which of your linked Facebook accounts or pages to use as your primary contact.

A number of REmessenger users have multiple Facebook pages and accounts. Until now, when you sent an email Message via REmessenger, by default your primary Facebook account was shown linked in your contact details in the email.

This has proven a problem for some users, because their Facebook business page is linked to their personal Facebook account. They don’t really want to promote their personal account, but rather need their business page to display.

We have revised this so you can now select which account or business page you would like to link. On your Social Media Account page simply click which account or  page to us:

Early today we receive reports from a couple of users that some Messages they had sent out were landing invariably into the spam folders of the recipients. The ‘From’ address was blank, when it should have been populated with their name and email address.

The issue seems to have been confined to a very small group of users (eg less than half a dozen), we’ve spent time today tracking down the problem. For the geeks it appears related to our feature management, which in general terms determines which features of the REmessenger application are available to which users.

We’ve update the application tonight, our tests are showing that the issue is resolved, and we’ll be in touch more personally with the users who raised the issue.

The REmessenger team works hard to ensure REmessenger performs as designed and expected, and when something goes awry we endeavour to make the necessary repairs as quickly as possible.

Yes, you can export Contacts from REmessenger for each of your Contact Lists. View the List you wish to export, and select one or more Contacts (you can select all using the All link at the top left) then click the orange Export button.

A file will be created, in Excel XLS format, containing your Contact data. If the list is large the file will be saved in compressed ZIP format to make download quicker.
